Shiv Sena, BBIA, TMF resent hike in power tariff

JAMMU, Oct 15: Activists of Shiv Sena J&K today gathered under the leadership of state party chief Manish Sahni at Chhani Himmat Chowk near the Party office and expressed their anger against the decision of unexpected increase in electricity rates by 8 percent.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahni said the Government has given a big blow to the people who are dreaming of relief from unemployment, recession, rising poverty and back-breaking inflation. He urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to roll back the decision with immediate effect and provide cash assistance for relief to the public during festivals.
In its Advisory/Executive Committee meeting, held today under chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan (president), Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) also discussed the issue regarding the unwarranted power tariff hike from 40% to 50% by JERC for Industrial Sector. All BBIA members raised serious concern over this steep hike and feared that it will not be possible for the Unit Holders to bear the additional production cost resulting into closure of Units in near future. The Association appealed the LG to intervene into the matter and issue necessary orders to roll back of recent power tariff and Minimum Wages hike for Industrial Sector.
Condemning Government’s move of hike in power tariff, Team Mask Force (TMF) chairman Vijay Sharma said Amnesty in power hike seemed to be a bit relief to people of J&K after being burdened by various other killer taxes amidst inflation, rise in fuel prices soon after Covid-19 Pandemic affects which lead to massive unemployment in the country, in particularly the extreme end of country. He demanded immediate roll back of power tariff hike.
