Shiv Sena concerned over spread of litter in Ranbir Canal

JAMMU, Apr 2: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit here today demanded strict action against the concerned department and officials for the increase of litter in Ranbir Canal as the canal is lifeline of farmers.
In a press conference here today Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni demanded an inquiry into the funds spent on cleaning the canal.
He said that the Ranbir Canal also provides relief to the people of Jammu from the scorching heat but for the last some years, the Canal has taken the shape of a garbage dump because of indifferent attitude of the concerned department.
“In almost every place of Jammu including Akhnoor Road, Muthi etc the water level of the Canal is low and heaps of garbage are clearly visible,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained adding that preparations have been made to release water in the Canal without cleaning it.
He urged the J&K Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister to intervene.
