Shiv Sena demands free food, cash help for poor

JAMMU, May 8: Expressing concern over skyrocketing prices of common goods and lowering of earning due to the pandemic and lockdown, Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray J&K Unit has demanded free food and cash help for the poor and needy people of J&K.
In a press conference here today, Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni said the current situation indicated that lockdown is going to be prolonged.
He urged J&K LG, Manoj Sinha to launch free meal scheme with cash assistance for the poor and needy people of J&K.
Sahni claimed that in the present scenario of Corona pandemic it has become impossible for a common man to make two ends meet.
“Labourers, taxis and auto drivers, street vendors, beggars and others have reached at the brink of starvation,” the Shiv Sena leader claimed.
He also claimed that Maharashtra government is helping its people with better health facilities, free Shiv Thali and cash despite facing the worst impact of COVID pandemic.
Sahni said, as instructed by his party national secretary and MP, Anil Desai there was a plan to provide free food in the party office Jammu for which a written appeal was made to DM Jammu whose answer is still awaited.
Shiv Sena women wing president, Meenakshi Chibber; general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; women wing secretary, Geeta Lakhotra, Dimple and youth leader Rakesh Handa were also present in the press conference.
