JAMMU, May 4: Shiv Sena J&K unit has expressed resentment against the rising menace of bovine smuggling in the Union Territory.
Addressing a press conference here today Manish Sahni, Shiv Sena J&K chief claimed that flexible laws are the root cause of increase in the menace of bovine smuggling.
He also claimed that bovine smuggling gained momentum after the abrogation of Article 370 and implementation of IPC in J&K as before October 5, 2019, bovine smuggling was in the category of non-bailable offense under Ranbir Panel Court and now the smugglers have got a boost under soft law as bovine smuggling under IPC is bailable offense.
Sahni said that despite strong statements by DGP and administration, legal action is not being taken against cattle smugglers and even Aadhaar tagging of cattle has become a joke.
“Due to lack of strict law, Court also issues directions to release the cattle by imposing a minor fine,” he maintained adding that PSA should be made mandatory on cow smugglers and movement of animals without tagging under the cover of weather should be completely banned.
