UDHAMPUR, May 17: Shiv Sena (UBT) Udhampur unit here today staged a protest demonstration demanding a ban on the sale of liquor near religious places.
The protest was staged under the leadership of Shiv Sena district chief, Sanjeev Sharma and deputy State chief, Jatindra Arora.
The protesters were holding placards with slogans in favour of their demands written on them.
Sanjeev Sharma strongly flayed the overcharging by liquor sellers and condemned the silent attitude of the concerned department in this regard.
He said that despite the department having concrete information, no strict action is being taken against the erring shopkeepers for overcharging.
The Shiv Sena leader also said that most liquor sellers are charging more than the MRP and this illegal practise increases manifolds in outskirts of the city.
He also demanded a ban on the sale of liquor near religious places in Udhampur.
On this occasion, Shiv Sena district chairman, Joginder Verma; district youth chief, Sahil Gandotra; youth secretary, Vishal Verma; Ankit Arora, Nikhil Singh, Nigesh Arora and other Shiv Sainiks were also present.
