JAMMU, June 1: Shiv Sena (Bala Saheb Thackeray J&K) staged protest against fuel prices hike and skyrocketing inflation and demanded immediate relief in the excise duty levied on the petrol and diesel by the Government which leads to prices hikes of the petroleum products.
In a press statement issued by president Shiv Sena J&K, Manish Sahni said that the inflation has broken all previous records after settling at 10.5 percent mark. “Not only petroleum products but edible oil including mustard oil and pulses are also going beyond the reach of common man,” he said.
The sky rocketing prices of the vegetables, coconut water and other items of daily needs is also going beyond the reach of the common man and they are finding it difficult to run the affairs of their kitchens as their budget has gone haywire.
He demanded that the Prime Minister of India should revisit his decision over excise duty and give relief to the people by controlling the prices of the essential commodities.
President Women’s Wing Meenakshi Chhibber, general secretary Vikas Bakshi, secretary Geeta Lakhotra, Mona Dutta, Sumit Kumar, Sanjeev Sharma, Meena Devi, Dimple, Rajat and Ashwani Prabhakar were part of the protest.
