Shiv Sena protests against water, power crisis

JAMMU, June 16: Shiv Sena J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration against water and power crisis in the city.
The protest was led by Manish Sahni, J&K Shiv Sena president and the protesters raised slogans like ‘Khali Balti Khali Glass…Kahan Hai Desh Ka Vikas, Na-Bijli Na-Paani, Hai BJP Sarkar Ki Meharabani Hai’.
Addressing the protesters, Sahni said that the public is now forced to buy water even for bathing though J&K has immense water resources.
He said that the under-construction water supply project on river Chenab, which was targeted for completion in the year 2016, is still not complete while under this project there was a provision for 24 hours water supply to Jammu city.
Sahni said that unscheduled power cuts have made the life of people a hell in this hot summer days.
“In several parts of the city there are power cuts for 3-4 hours a day making it difficult for the people to live as the temperature is crossing 43 degrees mark,” he maintained appealing J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to look into the matter.
Shiv Sena President Women Wing president, Meenakshi Chhibber; general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; chairman, Rakesh Gupta; vice president, Balwant Singh; president Kamghar Wing, Raj Singh; youth secretary, Rajesh Handa and others were also present on the occasion.
