JAMMU, May 28: The J&K unit of Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray staged ‘Thali Bajao’ protest here today demanding cash assistance of Rs 10,000 as monthly unemployed allowance for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir along with direct cash help for poor and middle class families.
Dozens of party leaders led by Manish Sahni, president of J&K Shiv Sena demonstrated today in support of these demands. Speaking on the occasion, Sahni drew the attention of the Government towards rising unemployment and economic recession in J&K. He said that post Article 370 abrogation; the people had expected unprecedented economic progress and employment in line with the promises made by the Union Government. However, even after a long gap of 21 months, there seems to be no improvement in the conditions on ground.
He said last but not the least, the pandemic lockdowns and Corona curfew have left the unemployed youth in utter despair as even those in jobs lost the same due to lockdown and curfews. In such a situation, he said, there is a dire need for announcing an unemployment allowance for the educated unemployed youth.
