JAMMU, Nov 22: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit has announced its support to the four-day strike declared by local traders , horse and pony service operators on the pilgrimage route regarding the ropeway project on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi yatra route in Tarakot, Katra.
Along with this, an appeal has been made to the Shrine Board not to spoil the nature of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Yatra in the race of facilities and to avoid affecting the business and employment of thousands of people.
In a press conference held today at the party’s State Central office, State head Manish Sahni said that we are not against development and facilities, but if it hurts religious sentiments and has a negative impact on local traders and employment, will stand against it. He said that due to the separation of Tarakot route from Katra and the main market, the business of local and travel route shopkeepers, porters and horsemen is sure to be affected. Along with this, the nature of Mata Vaishnodevi Yatra will be completely spoiled.
The devotees coming to visit Shri Mata Vaishnodevi by ropeway will have to remain deprived of the holy Banganga, Charan Paduka, Adhkunwari, Garbhjoon. Even before this, the main temple of Jammu, Kol Kandoli of Nagrota (called first darshan of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Yatra), Deva Mai (second darshan) have been affected due to the development of rail and road routes.
Sahni has requested the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha (who is the Chairman of the Shrine Board) to shift the ropeway project after holy Charan Paduka temple on the main Yatra Marg with the first stop being Adhkumwari. On this occasion general secretary, Vikas Bakshi, vice president Rajesh Jandial were present.
