JAMMU, Nov 3: A significant milestone in Duggar literature was marked today with the release of Dogri translation of “Shiv Tandav Stotram,” beautifully recited by Rakesh Jamwal and filmed at various historic locations.
For the first time, this sacred hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva has been translated into Dogri. Renowned writer Parkash Premi meticulously crafted this translation, ensuring that the original meaning and poetic flow of the Sanskrit stotram resonate deeply with Dogri speakers and listeners. Rakesh Jamwal’s melodious rendition, complemented by Sursham’s innovative musical composition, brings this ancient text to life.
Rakesh Jamwal is also a reputed police officer serving in the JKP. His powerful voice complements the spiritual intensity of the hymn. The musical composition for this version has been created by Sursham (Shamu), who skillfully blends traditional and modern elements to bring out the hymn’s divine essence.
The music video has been produced by Dhanjal Films Production, featuring a cast of accomplished performers including Madhu Shivraj, Srodh Jeevan Jasvantraj Sinth, and Zahid Gill. The tabla, played by Varun from the Varun Art Group Jammu, with support from Piyush, Vikash, Rohit, and Rahul Sharma, adds a pulsating rhythm to the hymn, enhancing its spiritual fervor. Makeup for the cast was done by Ravinder Thakur, and the video has been directed by the talented H S Dhanjal.
The launch event of the Dogri “Shiv Tandav Stotram” was graced by several distinguished guests. The chief guest of the event, Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG of Jammu Kathua Range, commended the initiative, calling it a remarkable moment in the region’s literary and cultural history. He praised the efforts of all those involved, especially highlighting the dual role of Rakesh Jamwal, not just as an outstanding police officer but also as a gifted singer who brought the “Shiv Tandav Stotram” to life in Dogri.
Other prominent guests included Padma Shri awardees Balwant Thakur, Mohan Singh Salathia, and Romalo Ram. Darshan Darshi, SP South Ajay Sharma, SDPO South Kartikeya, AADC Rachpal Singh, senior journalist Sunny Dua and prominent cartoonist Shekhar.
Rakesh Jamwal emphasized how this rendition of the “Shiv Tandav Stotram” is not just an artistic achievement but also a spiritual offering to Lord Shiva.
