Shiva Devi Jayanti celebrated with religious fervor, gaiety

JAMMU, July 15: The birthday of Shiva Devi was celebrated by Kashmiri Pandit community at Puran Baba Samadi Mandir, Bhagwati Nagar here with religious fervor and gaiety.
A large number of devotees participated in the religious function of their Isht Devi (presiding deity).
The day is celebrated every year on the first day of Ashad Shuklapakh. The entire Biradari members gathered in the temple premises and performed pooja archana in Kashmiri tradition. They also paid obeisance in the lotus feet of Goddess and sought blessings. On the occasion traditional yellow rice (Thar) was offered to Goddess after pooja.
Shri Hari Kirtan Jagrati Adiyatmik Mission performed Satsangh on this auspicious day. Basant Kumar and Surinder Ji sung bhajans in praise of Goddess. President of the Committee, Dr Janki Nath Raina complimented the participants and devotees.
