JAMMU, Nov 8: A colourful Shobha Yatra of Bhagwan Vishwakarma Maharaj was taken out here today to commemorate Vishwakarma Day falling on November 12.
The yatra was taken out by Pradesh Vishwakarma Sabha J&K under the leadership of its working president Shashi Verma.
The Shobha Yatra was flagged off by Chhedi Lal Vishwakarma, President, Akhil Bhartiya Vishwakarma Mahasabha,New Delhi and Kuldip Verma, Former VC OBC Advisory Board.
The yatra started from Gurha Morh Bakshi Nagar and after passing through main bazar Shakti Nagar, Canal Road, Jewel Chowk, Gumat, Raghunath Bazaar, City Chowk, lndira Chowk, KC Chowk, Maheshpura Chowk, Bakshi Nagar and culminated at Gurha Morh Bakshi Nagar.
People from different parts of the J&K and all walks of life participated by giving a festive look to the Shobha Yatra. Many Jhankies presenting different characteristics of Bhagwan Vishwakarma were part of the yatra. Horses and Baggies were the eye-catchers during the yatra. Youth were seen dancing and women folk were seen singing songs of Bhagwan Vishwakarma.
Well decorated Jhankies of Vishwakarma Temple Digiana, Bhagwati Nagar, New Plots, Shakti Nagar, Mishriwala and Muthi were also the part of Shobha Yatra.
While addressing the gathering, the speakers threw light on the life of Bhagwan Vishwakarma, who created this beautiful universe with his scientific skills.
Addressing the gathering, Cheedi Lal Vishwakarma appealed to the State Government for fulfilling the long pending demand of gazetted holiday on the eve of Vishwakarma Day.
Among others present were Jaswant Rai, Capt Tara Chand, Jagdish Raj, Rashpal Verma, Puran Chargotra, RC Angotra, Vijay Kumar, chief organiser, Ravi Verma, State president, Mangal Dass Verma, Parshotam Lal, Bansi Chargotra, etc.
