UDHAMPUR, Dec 10: Unable to bear the shock of her mother’s death, an educated young girl committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her house in remote village Jakhed, block Dudu-Basantgarh, here today.
Reports said that Kamlesh Kumari (26), daughter of Bodh Raj of Jakhed in Latti area, consumed some poisonous substance as soon as dead body of her mother Kalo Devi, who was undergoing treatment at Chandigarh hospital and breathed her last yesterday evening, reached home this morning.
The family members noticed the young girl in a serious condition and vomiting. She was rushed to PHC Latti where doctors washed her stomach. However, despite hectic efforts of the doctors, she did not respond to the treatment and died after some time.
According to the locals, deceased Kamlesh Kumari was a Post Graduate and teacher in a private school. Her mother Kalo Devi (45) was suffering from Cancer and had been admitted in Chandigarh hospital where she died last evening. On seeing dead body of her mother, shocked Kamlesh Kumari locked herself in a room and consumed some poisonous substance.
The tragic incident has sent a shock wave in the entire Latti-Dudu belt of Udhampur district.
