JAMMU, Nov 21: Shoolini University in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, has completed its 100th SPRINT (Skill Programming Through Rapid and Intensive Training), a specialized programme mandatory for all university students, which helps them to prepare for interviews and job placements.
The programme was introduced in 2012 with just first for MBA students and later on this was added as a credit course for all the department students in the university, said Poonam Nanda, Coordinator, SPRINT and Dean Student Welfare (DSW).
The basic idea to start SPRINT was to prepare students for placements, interviews and the activity is minimum for 3 days, maximum for 10 days. Group discussions are held along with Team building activities.
Recently the 100th SPRINT was there for batch of 2017 Semester first students. Guest speakers and some eminent personalities were invited for motivational speeches and also to boost the morale of students. The key elements of SPRINT included inculcating leadership skills, improving communication skills, and grooming etiquettes.
The concept is a brainchild of Atul Khosla, Pro Vice Chancellor and based on the model of Stanford mini MBA. Each SPRINT has a specific theme starting from Induction and ending with placement. An MBA student goes through seven structured and well-defined SPRINTs, which are a combination of learning and fun.
Held in a corporate environment of formal attire teams and stringent timings, communication skills, confidence building, time management, positive thinking, goal setting, leadership, change management, presentation skills are the common topics.
