Those involved in the production mentioned that there are nearly 30 locations where filming will take place and it will take about a month to complete.
Kilian Kerwin, executive producer of the web series, said that he had previously visited Kashmir to finalize the locations and has now returned for the actual shooting. The series is set to be released next year.
“It’s about the community of Kashmir and how people come together. While football is at its core, it goes beyond that; it’s about regular people doing their jobs and trying to build a football club,” he said.
Kerwin also noted that nearly 30 locations in Srinagar and Baramulla have been selected for filming.
Regarding the response from locals and the sense of security, he praised both, stating that people have been welcoming, and there’s an overall sense of safety.
“People have been warm and respectful. At the same time, I feel safe and don’t face any threats. We’ve been assured that security personnel will be with us during the shoot,” he said.
When asked if they would consider filming Kashmir’s beauty in winter, Kerwin said they would have to return with a different project for that.
“This series is set in a different season. We might have to create another web series for winter and I’m sure we’ll come back,” he said.
The web series is expected to be completed in about a month and will be available by next summer.
Abhijeet, the supervising producer from Mumbai, compared Kashmir to other filming locations in India, stating that everything feels normal and the people are welcoming.
“It’s a story of Kashmir, and we want to share it with the world. We haven’t faced any issues,” he said.
He added that film crews coming to Kashmir will create job opportunities for local talent. “These opportunities may differ from traditional ones, but they definitely help,” he noted.
The crew chose the old town for its beautiful scenery and rich history. Locals expressed pride and excitement that their town will feature in a web series watched by a global audience.
Notably, Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi also shot his upcoming movie ‘Ground Zero’ in Baramulla’s old town a few months ago.
