Shootout at SKIMS Bemina, civilian injured

Srinagar, Nov 5: Militants today managed to flee after exchanging fire briefly with the security forces at SKIMS hospital in Bemina area of Srinagar during which a civilian was injured.
Srinagar Police said that there was a brief exchange of fire between militants and security forces at SKIMS hospital Bemina.
Police also said that the militants managed to escape, taking advantage of civilian presence in the area.
“There was a brief fire fight between militants and security forces at SKIMS Hospital, Bemina. Terrorists managed to escape taking advantage of civilian presence,” police said.
The injured person has been identified as Masood Ahmad, 19, son of Safdar Ali, resident of Doda. Ahmad received a bullet in right arm and an injury at back.
An official said that there was an input about presence of a top commander Mehraan in the area and police launched an operation and a party in civvies was sent to target him.
