Shopian children sent on tour by Army

SRINAGAR, Oct 14:  Army today said that twenty children from South Kashmir’s Shopian district were sent on a tour to Chandigarh and Shimla cities.
A defence spokesman said here the children were flagged off Awantipora-based Victor Force Commander, Major General Ashok Narula, in the presence of an equally excited parents and officials from the Civil Administration and Army.
“The ten day tour to Chandigarh and Shimla aims at introducing the children to the diverse cultures, traditions and educational practices in other parts of the country. While in Chandigarh, they will get a chance to visit the Headquarters Western Command, War Memorial, Infosys IT Park, Rock Garden, Air Force Base and Punjab University. In Shimla, the children will visit the Army Training Command, Fruit Processing Factory and the State Museum,” he said.
The defence spokesman said the children will also get a first-hand account on the functioning of the Military School Chail during their visit and interact with school students and faculty.
