Shopian man among 2 die of Corona in Jammu, 141 test +ve

JAMMU, Dec 27: A man from Shopian district of Kashmir was among two persons who died of COVID-19 in Jammu region while 141 persons tested positive for the virus and 95 others recovered.
An octogenarian hailing from village Hanloo Zawa in Shopian district of Kashmir, who was presently putting up at Malpur Raipur on the outskirts of Jammu City, died of COVID Pneumonia in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
A 55-year-old man from RS Pura, who was suffering from hypothyroid and was positive for Coronavirus, also died in the GMC Jammu.
With this, Jammu region’s Corona toll has reached 691 including 353 in Jammu district followed by 62 Doda, 57 Udhampur, 54 Rajouri, 48 Kathua, 38 Samba, 23 Poonch, 21 each Kishtwar and Ramban and 14 in Reasi district.
Among 141 persons, who tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region today, 93 alone were from Jammu district and 18 Kathua.
Rest of the districts reported cases in single digits including eight Rajouri, seven Samba, five Doda, four Udhampur, three Kishtwar, two Ramban and one in Reasi district. Poonch didn’t report any positive case today.
Of 95 persons, who recovered from the virus, 40 belonged to Jammu district, 17 Doda, 14 Kathua, 11 Rajouri, nine Kishtwar and four to Udhampur district. No recoveries were, however, reported from Samba, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts.
Jammu region now has 49558 Corona cases including 1667 active positives while 47200 have recovered from the virus and there have been 691 casualties.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 12 Corona positive cases, all in Leh district taking the UT’s Corona count to 9406 including 209 active and 9071 recoveries.
There have been 126 Corona casualties in Ladakh-83 in Leh and 43 in Kargil.
