JAMMU, Aug 21: A 23-year-old shopkeeper was arrested by Bishnah police after an Army jawan’s wife accused him of blackmailing her by uploading her nude pictures on social media and then raping her.
As per police sources, a woman, wife of an Army jawan, lodged a written complaint with Bishnah police station yesterday, alleging that a youth took her nude pictures while she was taking a bath and later raped her for past one year by threatening to upload these on the social media”, police sources said.
The woman claimed that the youth uploaded her pictures on various social networking sites after she resisted his blackmailing efforts.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 181/17 under Sections 376 (rape) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) was registered against the youth at Bishnah police station and hunt was launched to nab the rapist.
On specific information, a team from Bishnah police station arrested the accused from Bari Brahmana, who has been identified as Rajat (23), son of Sham Lal, a resident of Ward Number 2, Bishnah.
The arrested youth runs a mobile repairing shop at Bari Brahmana and lives near the house of the complainant.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Bishnah Inspector PP Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
