Shopkeeper assaulted, accused arrested

UDHAMPUR, June 23: In an attempt to murder case, a shopkeeper was brutally assaulted by an assailant at Sallian Talab, under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police station, here late last night.
Reports said that Pankaj Gupta, son of Om Parkash Gupta was attached with sharp edged weapon by the assailant, who fled the scene after committing the crime.
Acting swiftly, Udhampur Police, led by SHO Raghubir Singh, arrested the accused from Battal Ballian area in Udhampur within three hours since commissioning of the crime.
The accused was identified as Rohit Sharma (25), son of Sham Kumar, resident of Kanyala Dansal Tehsil and District Jammu, presently putting up near Government Women College Udhampur.
In this connection, a case FIR number 338/2023, under section 307/ 452 IPC and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur. Further investigation into the case was going on and preliminary investigations reveal that there was some dispute over money between the two.
