Shopkeepers protest against poor drainage system

KISHTWAR, May 28: Malik Market Shopkeepers Association held a protest at Shaheedi Chowk here against poor drainage system and dilapidated condition of lanes.
Large number of shopkeepers assembled at Shaheedi Chowk and raised slogans against Municipal Committee and Public Works Department (PWD). The protestors were led by Tazeem Malik, Yaseen Malik and Arshed Giri.
The shopkeepers alleged that the Municipal Committee is paying no heed to the worst conditions of the roads and drains which has become a nightmare for the business establishments.
They blocked the main highway and demanded immediate removal of garbage and repairing of the drains passing through the bazaar.
Later, the Municipal Committee and PWD officials rushed to the spot and pacified the shopkeepers by initiating the cleaning work of lanes and drains.
