JAMMU, Feb 13: A collection of Punjabi short stories titled ‘Do Ghatt Teraan Kahaniyan’, written by Jang S. Verman, senior artist, journalist and writer was released here today at a function organized by Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu in collaboration with Punjabi Lekhak Sabha.
Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, renowned Punjabi poet, writer and playwright was chief guest on this occasion whereas Dr. Baljit Singh Raina, president Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu and a renowned writer, playwright, poet, film maker and director presided over the function.
Prof. Sucheta Pathania, HoD Punjabi and Jang Verman were present on the presidium.
Prof. Sucheta Pathania delivered welcome address. Two papers on the released book were presented by senior fiction writer Surinder Neer and Ph.D scholar Amanpreet Kour.
In his presidential address Dr. Baljit Singh Raina expressed his views on the role and contribution of Jang S. Verman in the field of literature and promotion of culture in the region.
Ajit Singh Mastana, Harjit Singh Uppal, President Punjabi Sahitik Sabha, R.S Pura and Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi also expressed their views on this occasion.
Writers Surinder Neer, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, A S Mastana, Amanpreet Kour, Dr. Gurpreet Kour, Dr. Baljit Raina and Popinder Singh Paras were felicitated on this occasion.
Dr. Harjinder Singh and Dr. Pritam Singh, faculty members conducted the proceedings of the programme and delivered vote of thanks.
