Short term course on “power electronics” held

JAMMU, Feb 28: The Electrical Engineering Department of Government Polytechnic Jammu in collaboration with National Institute of Technical Training Teacher and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh organized one week Integration Communication Technology (ICT) based online (video conferencing) short term course on Power Electronics in the college in which more than 20 Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics of North Zone participated in the online programme.
The faculty of Electrical Engg Department, Electronics Engg Department Computer Engg Department and Instrumentation and Control Department of the College, Government Women Polytechnic,Jammu, NITS Polytechnic , IECS Polytechnic and North Polytechnic participated in the said programme. The co-ordinator of the programme from NITTTR Chandigarh was S L Shimi, Associate Professor, Electrical Engg Department. Online lectures were delivered by the subject experts from NITTTR Chandigarh Dr S Chatterji, Dr Lini Mathew and faculty from PEC, Dr Tilak Thakur and Dr Jagdish Kumar through video conferencing.
The training programme was mainly based on Matlab/ Simulink in power electronics, Smart grids, microcontroller, fabrication of chopper drive etc. The Principal of the College Er Arun Bangotra, welcomed the participating faculty members of various institutions of technical education in Jammu region and thanked the NITTTR Chandigarh for organizing such types of the programmes for teachers.
The chief guest of the programme was Er M S Bhat, Joint Director, Technical Education Department who applauded the effort of the college and NITTTR in organizing such types of programmes for updation of technical skills of the teachers.
