JAMMU, June 2: The shortlisted candidates for the post of Jail Warder in Department of Prison are continuing their protest from last few months and are ready to continue their struggle to the logical end in order to achieve their goal.
Though, many political and non-political organizations have supported the demands raised by these candidates, yet the Government has turned to deaf ears.
In a similar protest dharna today, the protesters amid slogans demanded early release of final selection list, which is pending for the last 4 years for some unknown reasons.
Reiterating their resolve to continue their agitation, the agitators warned the Government not to test their patience and release the list as soon as possible.
One of the protestors, Ashwani Kumar informed that 41182 unemployed youth had applied for the post in 2005, out of which 1247 candidates were shortlisted for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010, adding even after more than three years, the final selection list is yet to be released.
The selected candidates urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, MoS Home, Sajjad Kichloo, Principal Secretary Home, Suresh Kumar and Director General Prison, P L Gupta to personally look into the matter and release the list at an earliest.
“No recruitment has taken place in the Department of Prison since 1995 and there are over 2000 vacancies, but the State Government is still delaying the final selection of the candidates,” said another protestor.
