Should Aryans Go “Back”?

Shiban  Khaibri
Whether Aryans were indigenous natives of India , living in the “Sapta Sindhu” or they came from Tibet or from Central Asia or Southern Russia or whatever , the history pertaining to thousands of  years  or   more is now sought to be rewritten , the signs of which have surfaced from the very land where writing Indian history has been an exclusive monopoly by historians with Communist and Islamic leanings. This trend or policy reportedly has been going on for decades together and perhaps with the tacit knowledge of and implied approval by the Governments at the centre. There is some good  political following of such “Scholars” of history in our prestigious JNU as also lot of following in west Bengal .This is no assumption though, as it was proved amply in February 2016 at JNU campus followed by Jadavpur university  campus  when  anti national  slogans were freely and openly raised. In Jadavpur university, some peculiar slogans were raised as ….Kashmir mangay Aazadi, Manipur mangay Aazadi, Tripuira mangay Azadi, Kerala mangay Aazadi, Hyderabad mangay Aazadi …..Watching our “scholars” in the offing,  raising such slogans simply made the blood of patriotic Indians boil . While some action was taken in JNU , though quite insufficient and not adequate , there was no action, nothing of the sort taken in Jadavpur university. The reasons may well be known to the West Bengal Government only but such a latitude and a long rope given to such elements are bound to boomerang and surface elsewhere in a different manner, all to the detriment of the country. It is totally mischievous and factually incorrect to park all the causes at the gate of “since the BJP led NDA Government came into power”.
A well organized group of frenzied elements reportedly took out a march with placards and banners a few days back  in Bashirhat  West Bengal reading , “Aryans go back”- pointing to the Hindu community as communal tension there has been simmering for the last few days.  This is not to be taken lightly as most of the media did not report it the way it should have been, in the interests of the country since these slogans have connotations inimical to the territorial integrity of the country besides stoking conflicts and hatred between groups of Indian society.  Mamta Banerjee Government has been seen either having a stoic silence attitude or turning to the other side, nursing the assured support of her well identified vote bank. This augers not well, not in the least, for our democracy or the genuine secular fiber. She, instead took on the Governor and indulged in blame game and exchanging war of words, playing victimhood “insulted”, “humiliated” “threatened” etc. by the Governor.
Coming back to Aryans, who  is asking whom to go back and why? Who is giving credence to and legitimacy to a conflicting historical issue of whether Aryans were natives of India or they invaded it to settle here thousands of years back. How dare the concerned elements raise such stupid but  obnoxious demands when their coming to and settling in India only a few hundred years back is historically and circumstantially a fact unlike the early Aryans and if  counter slogans  to this effect under retributive feelings are raised, where shall it lead our societies and the country to ?  Bengal has seen enough of bloodshed and mayhem in early 1940s  at the behest of Muslim League in run up to making of a “pure”  Pakistan. Calcutta killings and Naokhali (Now Bangladesh) massacres had put humanity to utter shame and with these historical dark and terrifying patches, should West Bengal be allowed to encourage the elements with the same mentality and the Government rather proudly projecting itself to be tilted totally towards the   minority   community with no regard for the sentiments and even the safety of the majority Hindu community?
Kaliachak,  Malda,  Dhaulagarh and  now  North 24  Parganas district  in West Bengal are  illustrative and not exhaustive examples . A defamatory  and condemnable post  by a 17 year boy  in FB should result in such a violence, vandalism, arson and free for all in Baduria  for days together is regrettable  especially when the police arrested him promptly. The violence spread to Bashirhat and beyond .The demand that the boy should be hanged as per Sharia law sounds ludicrous and loathsome in India which is a sovereign democratic and secular country. Who are stoking fire and how is it getting raged needs to be identified, arrested and jailed instead of patronizing them. Wherever hooligans resort to lynching, it should receive zero tolerance from the Government and prompt action must be taken. No cause howsoever for any religious feeling, gives any authority to anyone to take life of any other person suspected to have done a mischief. How pathetic it looks that a 62 year old Kartik Gosh was lynched by a frenzied mob in Bashirhat just 60 kms far from Kolkata and while Mamta  promptly reacted and condemned Junaid’s lynching , she has not uttered a word for Kartik. Why?, because Didi puts appeasement first and pampering as her top most priority. 27% Muslim population has been all along her area of intense interest as she projects her party and Government as protector of minorities. Not only this, Kartik’s son , Probashish was not allowed to step out  as Police kept him confined so as not to narrate the ordeal. Victim’s son has his voice muzzled in Didi’s Government so much so that he fears even to say that his father was lynched. This is the state of administrative transparency, probity and the principle of “without favour or fear” of her Government. The situation in the riot affected areas is such that even the dedicated TMC activists complain of total deafening apathy to the ordeal of Hindus affected by violence. Justice is thus murdered. The police is seen to be getting instructions from ruling political leaders.  One TMC MP on anonymity was highly critical of the state of affairs in the violence hit areas and admitted political interference in the handling of the situation by the Police. Will Mamta ensure police having a free hand , a professional hand in maintaining law and order?
It seems strange that neither Award Wapsi gang, nor self proclaimed liberal democrats, nor Rahul – Kejri_ Owasi trio , nor Yutchuri- Raja  and other “very secular ” political leaders visited Kartik’s family and issued statements like they did in Akhlaq’s case. New liberal arrivals in socio- political horizon “Not in my name”  did not burn a single candle for Kartik Gosh . This seems a tragedy of our democracy. Selective opposition, selective candles, selective flowers, black bands etc are only for selective victims. Kartik  Gosh falls not in this category, DSP Ayub Pandit does not figure here. This is rue able, as also conspicuous of being deficit in sincerity.  Anger, frustration, indignation and fear in the Hindu community in affected areas in West Bengal and adequate compensation to them needs to be addressed on priority.
In the concluding lines, referring again to the Aryans, for the information of zealot elements in Bengal, it must be known that The theories floated by some British and European scholars that Aryans “invaded” India and drove the natives down towards the South is losing ground by circumstantial evidence and genetic studies which hold the view that India or Aryavrat as it was historically known, was the land of Aryans . Even Gautam Budh was addressed reverentially by his followers as Arya putra , or the son of an Arya. Such slogans or nursing of such venomous feelings against fellow countrymen are loaded with hatred and creating animosity between different groups of people.
This needs to be curbed with an iron hand lest the societies and the nation could be imperilled. Can we afford that? Can we overlook the lurking dangers from two of our neighbours who severally and even jointly seem to be weaving and cooking problems, conflicts, disturbances, conspiracies and intrigues against this country poised for becoming a mightiest power. Can we continue to indulge in petty electoral gimmicks like appeasement of minorities at the cost of the interests of the majority community ? The cardinal principal of the Government “Sab ka Saath, Sab ka vikas” should leave no doubt in the mind of anyone in the country. Our judiciary, our media, our laws, our constitution are all to protect and uphold individual citizen’s right to partake the fruits of the development of the country . Perhaps, we can now never hear and should not, that “minorities have the first and the foremost right on the resources of the country”. Hence Mamta Ji should review her style of functioning in respect of treating every citizen in her state at equal footing and bring peace in the affected areas assuring the frightened Hindus of their safety and honour.
