JAMMU, Aug 20: The ‘Shravani Upakarma’ and ‘Vedarambha’ rites of 700 students from all educational projects, including Acharyakulam, at Patanjali Yogpeeth, established by Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, were conducted today following Vedic rituals.
On this auspicious occasion, a 51-kundiya Mahayagya was organized at the ‘Yagya Bhavan’ located in Patanjali Yogpeeth Phase-2. The event was graced by Acharya Balkrishna, during which ‘Shravani Upakarma’ and ‘Vedarambha’ rites of 700 new students of various classes for the session 2024-25 were conducted.
Amidst the chanting of mantras, Acharya provided a simple explanation of each ritual, saying, “Shravani Upakarma is the foundation of the highest human values. The cultured ‘Brahamcharis’ today take second birth in the shelter of Guru and they are called “Dvija” (twice-born).
The Yajnopavita (sacred thread) is an extraordinary and consecrated thread, in which the three strands represent the Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas, and the knot symbolizes the Atharva Veda. We all, including the initiated Batukas, should always follow the Vedokta Vedic principles.
Acharya Balkrishna embraced all the students as his Brahmacharis through a divine touch. The parents of the students were also present to witness this auspicious moment and offered alms and blessings to their children.
While offering blessings over the phone, the Swami Ramdev said, “The Guru is the living embodiment of the Supreme Brahman. All educational initiatives of Patanjali, including Acharyakulam, are sacred institutions rooted in the Guru-Shishya tradition, where students are transformed through the values instilled by yoga and spirituality”.
The Vice-Chairperson of Acharyakulam Dr Ritambhara Shastri along with Swami Arjundev and Deputy Principal Tapas Kumar, offered alms and showered flowers upon the students with their own hands, bestowing their blessings.
On this auspicious occasion, all the monks, Acharyas, staff members, and students were present.
