Shrine Board organizes Career Counselling Prog for students

KATRA, Feb 2: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organized a comprehensive Career Counselling Programme for the wards of its employees and other students of Katra, studying in 11th and 12th classes at Spiritual Growth Centre, here today.
The panel of experts included Prof R N Gohil who spoke on the theme of science as a career, Dr Indu Aima, who threw light on civil services as a career, Col S K Dutta who spoke about the Army as a career option and Dr Umesh Sharma, who gave details of the various schemes being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, for encouraging the students to pursue science as a career.
More than 200 students, including the wards of employees and the students of the Government Higher Secondary School, Katra, besides employees of the Shrine Board, participated in the day-long Career Counselling Programme.
Speaking on the occasion, after giving away certificates to the participating students at the valedictory session of the Career Counselling Programme,  Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, said that there are tremendous opportunities available for making careers in the varied fields. He, however, added that the key to success is that one has to identify ones potential and put in hard work in the chosen field of study. He said that SMVDSB endeavours to organize more such programmes in future for the wards of employees and local students of Katra and adjoining areas.
Dr  M  K  Kumar, Additi-onal CEO, SMVDSB, interacted with the participants about the various professional courses and how to get into these.
Earlier, in his introductory remarks, Dr Sunil Wanchoo from SMVDU, who conducted the proceedings of the programme, lauded the unique initiative taken by the Shrine Board in organizing this event.
Among those,  present on the occasion, were  Pankaj Gupta,  Devinder Singh Bhau,  Amit Vermani,  Dr  Arvind Karwani,  Hem Kant Prasher,  Rajinder Singh  and others.
