Shrine Board takes up development of Sira-Kakryal colony

KATRA, Mar 21: On the directions of Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, CEO Shrine Board, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, has begun implementation of several development projects in Sira-Kakryal, especially in Sira which is a Colony of rehabilitated families.
It is pertinent to recall that at a special meeting of the Jammu based members of the Board, chaired by Governor N. N Vohra, it had been decided to take up planned development in village Sira to particularly improve its civic infrastructure. It was agreed that six works valuing over Rs 2.5 crore would be taken up on a time-bound basis.
In his February 2017 report to the Governor, Ajeet Kumar Sahu has informed that three out of the six projects are at an advanced stage and work on construction of drains in Sira colony, measuring over one kilometre are almost complete. These drains will immediately improve the sanitary condition in this colony as the inhabitants have been facing serious problems due to water logging, especially during rains, which was causing unhygienic conditions.
The Board has also taken up the work of improving facilities at the Government Primary School Kakryal at an estimated cost of Rs 10.35 lakh. A compound wall and a gate have already been constructed in the school to protect its land and provide safety of the students. The school ground has also been raised to ensure against water logging and enable its use for the assembly of the students and sports activities. Provision of safe drinking water and other facilities has also been taken up in the school, which will particularly help the children studying in the lower classes in the School.
For promoting the convenience of the travelling public, students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and College of Nursing, patients and their attendants who visit the Shrine Board’s Superspeciality Hospital and the people of the area, especially during hot summers and the monsoon period, the Shrine Board is installing six Stainless Steel Passenger Sheds at Domel, Manthal and Kakryal at an estimated cost of approximately Rs  28.5 lakh. The Passenger Sheds will be erected in the next few weeks.
The Shrine Board is also constructing a Community Hall at Sool, Kakryal, costing over Rs 46 lakh, which will benefit about 3000 residents of Sool, Sira, Tareen and Kakryal villages. The Community Hall will accommodate 100 seated persons and 250 standing and also have adequate open space for free movement of users, a kitchen and a toilet block.
To address the difficulty caused to the travelling public and patients during night time for want of any street lights on Domel-Kakryal and Manthal-Kakryal roads, the CEO has taken up the work of illuminating these roads by installing 40 LED Solar Street Lights of 40w each on each of the turns, curves and dark stretches at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 20.50 lakh.
Further, the Board is undertaking plantations along the Domel-Kakryal and Manthal-Kakryal roads.
Governor has directed CEO for ensuring timely completion of all the envisaged works to expeditiously benefit the general public and the students in the general area of Sool, Sira, Tareen and Kakryal.
