SAMBA, Mar 24: A Maha Yagya was solemnized at Sharda Temple Bantalab by the Temples and Shrines Prabandhak Committee Tral Awantipora, Camp Jammu here on the occasion of Puranmashi for world peace and brotherhood.
A large number of devotees drawn from various parts of Jammu including social activist and heads of various KP organizations participated in the Hawan. The Hawan was organized to invoke the blessings of Goddess over the members of the KP community living as refugees in different parts of the country for last 26 years.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion J L Pandita president of the Committee highlighted its objectives. He said, besides working for the welfare of the community the Committee is committed to bring all the shrines and temples to their pristine glory in general and Nawdal Tirath in Tral in particular.
He said Nawdal Tirath is connected to annual yatra of Swami Amarnath Ji and the yatris after the culmination of the pilgrimage were immersing the relics at the holy spring at Nawdal.
Pandita appealed the community members to maintain the unity. He said apart from religious significance these type of functions have social as well as cultural significance.
