Court grants 5 days remand of accused

JAMMU, July 11: Enforcement Directorate has arrested one more accused namely Anil Kumar, son of Om Parkash of Haryana, in the much publicized SI Paper Scam.

The accused was accordingly produced before Special Judge CBI  under proper custody by IO Rahul Verma, Deputy Director, Enforcement Directorate, Sub Zonal Office, Jammu with the prayer for remand of the accused for a period of seven days.

After hearing Special PP Ashwani Khajuria for the ED and perusal of case diaries and entire material on record, Special Judge CBI Bala Joyti said, “investigation of the case is at initial stage, as such he is remanded to ED custody for a period of 5 days. Moreover he is involved in serious economic offences. He shall be subjected to regular medical examination under rules”.
“Accused is again apprised of his right to engage counsel and access to medical aid. Accused shall be produced in the court by the IO after expiry of the remand period. IO is also directed to expedite the investigation”, read the order of the court.
