Sikh bodies for coordinated relief measures

JAMMU, Sept 8: Expressing shock and deep concern on unprecedented loss of human lives, property, standing crops, live stocks, and to existing infrastructure in the State, various Sikh bodies have appealed to the citizens of J&K to cooperate and jointly help the affected ones.
No doubt State as well as Central Government  is doing its best with the means at their disposal but all this is not enough, said a statement, jointly issued by District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), SAD Mann, Sikh Student Federation, Sikh Intellectual Circle and other Sikh organizations.
We are ready to extend every possible help and assistance in rehabilitation of affected families, they added.
Meanwhile, a joint delegation of Sikh organizations visited the affected areas and noticed that despite fair weather no Government agency or official had reached worst affected areas of Belicharana and Chatha, inhabited by Sikh community which is very shocking and highly condemnable.
There is immediate requirement of dewatering pump in the areas which are still submerged in deep water while the restoration work should be taken at war footing to provide relief to affected families, they demanded.
