JAMMU, Mar 25: A deputation of various Sikh organizations called on Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal under the leadership of Dayal Singh Wazir president Sharomani Akali Dal, J&K and discussed the issues of the displaced persons from PoK.
The deputation included members from Sikh United Front, Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa Society, Sikh Naujwan Sabha, Sikh Welfare Society and some members from DGPC Jammu.
The members expressed their resentment over the working of staff of PRO Jammu engaged in preparing documents for settlement of compensation Rs 5.5 lakh to be paid to the refugees of PoK (1947) by the Govt.
They complained that the refugees are facing difficulties for getting the copies of form ‘A’ and other documents. They also said that the DPs who had allotted land, were not provided possession till date. Many members are unable to provide the documents desired by the Revenue authorities due to very hard rules framed.
The Sikh leaders also said that the photo copies of the documents when they migrated from PoK in 1947 and self attested photocopies also be considered as a proof who cannot produce certified copy at this time as heavy rush in issuing the documents in the office of Jammu. The Divisional Commissioner was told that many displaced persons were not issued Adhaar cards which is said to an important document for receiving the compensation.
They also brought in the notice an incident which occurred in Budgam in Kashmir in village Khanpura in a Gurdwara where some anti- social elements has tried to break the Golak (Money box of offering money). They demanded protection of the Gurdwaras in Kashmir. Dr Kotwal issued direction to PRO to simplify the method.
Prominent among those accompanying Wazir included Amrik Singh, Davinder Singh, Ramnik Singh, Fateh Singh,Raja Singh (DGPC), Mohinder Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Surinder Singh Kala ( JKMTA), Kulwant Singh and Harpreet Singh.
