Sikh organizations condemn attempts to derail SGPC elections

JAMMU, Oct 28: Various Sikh Associations condemned the attempts of some vested interests in the community, already associated with certain DGPCs to derail the process of Sikh Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections.
In a joint press statement here leaders of various bodies including  Avtar Singh Khalsa, Mohinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Ramnik Singh Bijral, Dharminder Singh, Kulwant Singh, S S Sukhi, Manmohan Singh and Rajinder Singh appealed the Sikh community members to remain alert from the designs of such elements and elect members of good reputation and clean image.
They alleged that no audit of public offerings/funds utilized/ generated has got conducted by the former committee of the local DGPC and there was urgent need of transparency in such affairs.
They pointed out that entire Sikh community wants good, responsible and clean image members to be elected so as to take over the management of the religious places of Sikh community.
The division bench of the State High Court has already issued directive to the State Government in this regard to hold SGPC/DGPC polls in the State within six months.
