Sikh organizations demand AIIMS for Jammu

JAMMU, Apr 25: An emergency meeting of various Sikh organizations of J&K was held under the chairman of Mohinder Singh, chief organizer of Bhai Kanahiya Jee Nishkam Seva Society, J&K and Ex-member, DGPC Jammu, wherein the speakers urged the ruling State BJP leaders to approach the Central Government for sanction of an AIIMS for Jammu.
The speakers said they are not against establishment of AIIMS at Srinagar but at the same time they wanted the Government to allot another AIIMS for Jammu also so that the inhabitants of Jammu may not go to New Delhi for specialized treatment.
“There is PDP-BJP Government in Jammu and Kashmir with Mufti Mohd Sayeed as Chief Minister and Dr Nirmal Singh as Deputy Chief Minister while BJP also has a majority Government at the Centre”, they said, adding therefore it would not be difficult for State BJP leaders to get sanctioned an AIIMS for Jammu from the Central Government.
They urged the BJP MPs and BJP MLAs from the State to approach in the form of delegation to BJP Government at the Centre for making the situation normal, as there is much anger in the people of Jammu region after the already allotted AIIMS was shifted to Kashmirt Valley.
Those who participated in the meeting were Avtar Singh Khalsa, general secretary, Sikh United Front, Paramjit Singh, president, AISSF, Gajjan Singh, general secretary, Sikh Welfare Society, Kulwant Singh, chief advisior, Sikh Naujawan Sabha, ex-general secretary, DGPC Jammu, Ramnik Singh Bijral and many others.
