Sikhs demand Banda Singh’s statue at Kunjwani Chowk

JAMMU, June 24: Remembering the great warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadar on his martyrdom day, a telephonic meet of Sikh United Front and many other Sikh organizations was held here today under the chairmanship of S. Sudershan Singh Wazir, Front Chairman.
Speakers in the meeting deliberated upon the life, struggles and achievements of Banda Singh Bahadar and expressed resentment against the non-installation of his statue at Kunjawani Chowk Jammu.
They said that statue installation remained a long pending demand of Sikh community and Rs 30 lakh was also announced for the same by the then Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta in the year 2015 but nothing has been done in this regard so far.
Sikhs in the meeting demanded early installation of the statue and said that there will be protests otherwise.
S. Gajan Singh, President Sikh Welfare Society; Prof. Yudhvir Singh, JMC Councillor; S. Paramjit Singh, S. Surinder Singh Kala, S. Dayal Singh Wazir, Chairman Shiromani Akali Dal and others also joined the telephone conference.
