SRINAGAR, Aug 28: All Parties Sikh Co-ordination Committee (APSCC) today said they will not cast any vote to National Conference and Congress parties in the Assembly elections to be held next year as the coalition has failed to implement National Minorities Act in the State.
“There are eight seats in Kashmir valley and 10 in Jammu division where Sikh votes are the deciding factor. If our demands are not met by this Government, we will not vote for National Conference or Congress in the elections next year,” Chairman of the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Jagmohan Singh Raina told reporters today.
Raina said that they will launch a peaceful agitation from today across the State against the Government for “miserably failing” to implement the National Minorities Act in the State.
The chairman also demanded recruitment of Punjabi teachers in schools and colleges so that unemployed Sikh youth get jobs.
The Sikh leader said he failed to understand why the State Government was not implementing the Act as there was no financial implication for it.
Without naming any one, Raina claimed some Government officials in district Budgam are interfering in the religious matters of the minority community by denying revision of electoral rolls for Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee.
The chairman also said they oppose the international music concert by Zubin Mehta in Shalimar Gardens.
“We are supporting the stand taken by majority community in opposing the Zubin Mehta’s concert,” he said.
