Sikhs top in of unemployed in 2009-10 :Survey

NEW DELHI, Aug 20: The two National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) surveys on unemployment between 2004-05 and 2009-10 show that unemployment have declined among all religious communities excepting urban Sikhs, Lok Sabha was informed today.
Answering a question, Minister for Labour Sis Ram Ola said in a written answer that the unemployment among the urban Sikhs had gone up to 6.1 per cent, the highest among any any religious group in 2009-10.
Among the Hindus, the unemployment rate for 2009-10 was 3.4 per cent followed by Muslims 3.2 per cent, Christians (2.9 per cent) and 6.1 per cent for Sikhs. The national average was 3.4 per cent, the Minister said.
