‘Silk India-2022’ Expo begins at Kala Kendra

JAMMU, Dec 12: The ‘Silk India-2022 Expo, organized by Hastashilpi thrown open for the public between 10:30 am to 8:30 pm at Kala Kendra Bikram Chowk, here today.
The expo will culminate on January 1, 2023. “Various Silk Saree weavers, Handloom clusters and Silk Co-operative Societies will be showcasing their products in the exposition. The intention of organizing this exhibition is to make accessible the products directly to customers, without the mediator by the weavers and artisans,” said Hastashilpi organiser T. Abhinand.
The organiser said that there were many silk items including Jaipur hand block print, Modal silk hand block print, Mashru silk, Ajrakh hand block print, Malkotan, Kota Doria, Maheshwari silk, Kashmir woollen stall, bed cover and Jaipuri quilt, Kanjiwarum silk saree for bridal, Bengal handloom item, Kantha, Baluchari, hand printed saree, pure silk besides many more products from across the country will be available in this silk expo.
“Kanjivaram silk sarees of price approx Rs 2 lakh for bridal are the main attraction for the customers in the exhibition during wedding season,” he added.
“Organic tassar silk sarees, suit & stoles of Bihar, crepe silk, Georgette silk, Arini silk of Karnataka, Kanjeevaram silk sarees Andhra Pradesh, Dharmavara, Uppada, Gadwal, Mangalagiri and Pochampalli sarees of Andhra Pradesh, Lucknowi Chikan, Mulberry silk, Jamdani, Jamawar and Chiffon silk of Uttar Pradesh, Paithani sarees and designer dress materials of Maharashtra are being exhibited in the expo,” he said.
Besides, Patiala dress materials of Punjab, Sambalpuri, Ikkat, Bomkai Sarees, Handloom Silk Cotton of Orissa, exclusive Raw Silk Saris, Kosa Silk, Tassar Suit & Dupatta of Chhattisgarh, Maheswari, Chanderi silk Sarees and suit of Madhya Pradesh, Baluchari, Gicha sarees, Boutique saris, Kantha sarees, Zordoshi of West Bengal, Muga and Eri silk sarees of Assam, Chinon silk, Tady silk, printed sarees and pashmina shawls and suit of Jammu & Kashmir will also be available in the expo,” said Abhinand.
The small amusement for kids also will also attract the customers, he added.
