Silver futures climb Rs 371 on firm global cues

NEW DELHI,  Aug 21:  Silver prices rose by Rs 371 to reach Rs 36,681 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions amid firm trend in precious metals overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 371, or 1.02 per cent, at Rs 36,681 per kg in a business turnover of 1,891 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month December contracts rallied by Rs 378, or 1.02 per cent, to Rs 37,489 per kg in 269 lots.
Market analysts said speculative positions created by participants in line with a firm trend global markets for precious metals on signs the Federal Reserve may delay an interest rate increase as inflation remains low, boosting the metal’s appeal as a haven, influenced silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver was up 0.39 per cent at USD 15.64 an ounce in Singapore today. (PTI)
