NEW DELHI, July 24: Silver futures today dropped 0.41 per cent to Rs 34,537 per kg as participants lightened their positions, tracking a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month December was trading lower by Rs 143, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 34,537 per kg in a business turnover of 19 lots.
On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in September also shed Rs 124, or 0.37 per cent to Rs 33,780 per kg with turnover of 401 lots.
A weak global trend overseas where silver dropped to seven-month low as US economic data which showed improvement, backed the case for higher interest rates this year, dragged down white metal prices at futures trade here, analysts said.
Meanwhile, silver declined as much as 1.1 per cent to USD 14.50 an ounce in Singapore today, the lowest level since December last year. (PTI)
