KISHTWAR, June 3: Singers Suraj Kumar and Nidhi Aryan were declared as the winners of the Kishtwar Idol Season 2 in the respective categories as the much-anticipated finale of the event concluded here at TRC Kishtwar today.
As per a statement, both the winners were given Rs 10000 as cash prize and certificates on their feat.
Organized by the District Administration Kishtwar, the event showcased exceptional talent from contestants who advanced through rigorous auditions.
The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav, as the Chief Guest. Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, attended as the Special Guest, and SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom, was the Guest Of Honor.
Other notable attendees included ASP Kishtwar Pawan Sharma, ACD Kishtwar Phulail Singh, DSWO Kishtwar Tariq Parvez Qazi, CEO Kishtwar R K Vesheshta, among other dignitaries from the civil and the police administration.
The event drew over 500 spectators, including school students and local music enthusiasts.
The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and the National Anthem.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr Yadav, expressed delight at the competition’s success and emphasized its role in providing a platform for local talent.
He praised the efforts of the Kishtwar Idol team, led by Dr Kuldeep Kumar, and announced that winners would receive specialized music training and opportunities to record albums with renowned studios.
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, commended Dr Yadav’s efforts and hoped for continued collaboration between Kishtwar and Doda to elevate the Chenab Valley’s cultural profile.
The grand finale featured 21 singers, with 11 in the above-18 category and 10 in the below-18 category. Renowned music maestros Ravi Thakur, Suresh Chauhan, Zahida Tarranum, and Bhavna Dubey judged the performances.
Suraj Kumar won in the above-18 category, while Nidhi Aryan triumphed in the below-18 category. Both winners received Rs 10,000 and certificates.
First runners-up, Zulkar Nain and Shreya Sharma, received Rs 7,000, and second runners-up, Rohan Bhandari and Sushat Aryan, were awarded Rs 5,000. All participants were given certificates.
Music maestros and past winners also performed in the event. DIO Kishtwar Dr Kuldeep Kumar expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, particularly DySP Sajjad Khan, and thanked the anchors, TRC management, and Picture Time Theatre officials for their support.
