Singh briefs President

NEW DELHI, Jan 15:
Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the barbaric beheading of an Indian soldier in Poonch recently, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh met President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan this evening.
According to Rashtrapati Bhawan spokesperson, the Prime Minister met the President at 1700 hrs at the Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
The meeting lasted for nearly an hour, the spokesperson said.
Though the spokesperson refused to say what was discussed at the meeting, sources said the main subject of discussion was the recent incident of barbaric beheading of an Indian soldier in Poonch recently, which has led to escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan.
The meeting came even as the Prime Minister today categorically asserted that business with Pakistan could not be as usual after the barbaric beheading of an Indian soldier in Poonch.
Talking to reporters at an Army Day function, Dr Singh, in a strong message to Islamabad, said perpetrators of the crime had to be brought to book and ” I hope Pakistan realises this.”
On being asked that Pakistan was in denial mode regarding the incident, the Prime Minister said,” We will keep trying.” (UNI)
