JAMMU, July 30: Member Legislative Assembly and working Chairman National Panthers Party (NPP) Harsh Dev Singh has flayed the tall claims of the Government regarding improvement of power position in the State.
He said that the ground situation was highly pathetic with power scenario having deteriorated further during the last couple of days after the said announcement.
Singh regretted that the unprecedented power cuts being affected in Jammu region during the ongoing summer season have caused tremendous hardships and inconvenience to the common man.
Flaying the callous and insensitive attitude of the Power Development Department, Singh said that the people of Jammu region are made to suffer the worst nightmares due to scorching heat and soaring humidity with no respite from scheduled and unscheduled power cuts. He said that the students are the worst sufferers particularly those preparing for the various examinations.
Citing figures, he said that the power consumption between Jammu and Kashmir regions is in the ration of 40:60 respectively but when it comes to revenue realization Jammu contributes more than 66 per cent of power tariff with barely 33 per cent coming from Kashmir region.
He vowed to fight such discriminatory tactics tooth and nail and said that the people of Jammu would strongly oppose the highly obnoxious treatment doled out to Jammu region in yet another field of power.
