Singh takes stock of losses due to rains

JAMMU, Sept 8: Former MLA and member AICC Shiv Dev Singh, visited several villages of Nagrota constituency and took stock of the problems of people due to recent rains and flood.
He visited Bain-Bajalta, Nandani, Naibasti-Nagrota (JDA Colony), Jhajhar Kotli, Dansal and Khanpur areas and took stock of the loss suffered by the inhabitants as well as the Government infrastructure such as electric transformers, electric poles, roads and bridges.
He said that the Bajalta-Kupper road has completely been washed away, electric transformers have been burnt and the whole system has been collapsed. The crops have completely been washed away in the flood. The water entered into the houses at JDA Colony Naibasti-Nagrota and the house hold goods submerged in water, he added.
He said that nobody from the Government has visited there to look into the inhabitants of these areas. He urged upon the District Administration to send a rescue team of officials to look into the problems of people on spot and provide adequate relief to affected people, besides work to restore electricity, drinking water, roads and communication be started on war footing.
He was accompanied by Kiramat Ali, Bachan Lal, Madan Mohan Dubey, Balwan Singh, Farooq Ahmed and Alam Din during the tour.
