JAMMU, June 18: Social worker and SSP (Rtd) Bhupinder Singh today visited Gujjar Basti Kadyal, Kapoorpur, Abdal, Talhar, Muffi Kotli and Pindi Saroocha villages of Suchetgarh constituency and interacted with people on the issue of poor sanitation.
The people apprised him of the poor sanitation in their villages as well as the health issues. Mr Singh gave patient hearing to the people and assured to highlight their issues before the concerned authorities.
While interacting with the people, he said, “it is unfortunate that 65 years after the independence, the rural households are still struggling to have access to toilet and drinking water facilities within their homes”, adding “Union Government has spent lots of funds on schemes such as Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and Total Sanitation Campaign, but the effective implementation is lacking”.
Mr Singh also visited Hansu Chak, Agra Chak, Khepar and Purana Pind areas to take stock of the people’s grievances.
There was great resentment among people as Government has not issued powers to the SDM for issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates as a result of which young boys and girls were finding it difficult to apply for jobs in various sectors.
He also noticed worst condition of roads in these areas and assured the people that he will take up their issues with the concerned authorities for early redressal. Later, Mr Singh met Arun Kumar, Financial Commissioner Revenue seeking his intervention for early redressal of the PRC issue.
