Situation defused in Bhaderwah after DyCM, MoS Home intervention

JAMMU, July 31: Partial bandh was observed in Bhaderwah town in protest against attack on some youth of minority community last night in which two of them sustained injuries. However, the situation was defused following the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and local MLA, Mohd Sharief Niaz.
Reports said that last night a group of youth first tried to attack a family, which was travelling in a car, and later assaulted two youth of minority community at Nalthi. Both the injured youth namely Sunil Singh, son of Naseeb Singh of Bhalla and Sunil Raina, son of Chander Gupt of Vasuki Vihar have been admitted in the hospital with severe injuries.
In the morning, large number of people from minority community assembled near the Lakshmi Narayan Temple and held protest demonstration over the yesterday’s incident. Partial bandh was also observed in the town to lodge resentment over the incident.
However, the situation was defused following the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, MoS Home, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, local MLA, Mohd Sharief Naiz, DDC Doda, Mubarak Singh and DIG Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, who convened a meeting of prominent citizens, social, religious and charitable organizations at Bhaderwah and appealed the people to maintain communal harmony and foil the designs of anti-social elements.
“Peace and harmony is the prime requirement for the growth and social development of the state”, DyCM said while chairing the meeting, adding “peace is the only path through which the desired and multifaceted growth and social development of the State can be achieved and under peaceful atmosphere the Government can focus on the developmental activities for the benefit and welfare of the people which is not possible if the peace deteriorates”.
He appreciated the age old tradition of brotherhood and harmony among the different sections of the society in the region and asked them to strengthen their relations to defeat the nefarious designs of the anti-social elements who are bent upon to disturb the peace and prosperity in the region.
