KATHUA July 21: The old saying that man proposes and God disposes has come true in case of three HP accident victims from Bani tehsil of Kathua district who died near Rampur in Himachal Pradesh after the bus in which they were traveling fell down into a 500 metre deep gorge on HP -Tibet Highway yesterday.
Two brothers Udo Raj and Mulkh Raj of Chandal Bani and Ravinder Kumar of Bandhghat who were among the ill fated 28 people who lost their lives in the accident were on way to Bani from Kinnaur in HP for participation in marriage ceremony of their relatives. Ravinder Kumar who was coming to participate in the marriage ceremony of his nephew had brought clothes for the entire family from HP. But he did not know that he will meet such an immediate end and the celebrations will turn into mourning in the family.
Same was the case with the families of Udo Raj and Mulkh Raj who too were on the way to Bani to participate in the marriage ceremony of one of their close relatives. Both these brothers were cremated at one cremation ground today in their native village Chandal while Ravinder Kumar was cremated at Cremation ground in his village Bandhghat.
Rattan Chand another accident victim from Chandal has much horrible story. He was the only bread earner in the family leaving behind his shell shocked wife and five children four daughters and one son. The family has no source of income now as their lone bread earner was snatched by cruel hands of death.
All the six dead persons were cremated in the cremation grounds of their respective villages. The pall of gloom descended on Bani with markets and other business establishments kept their shutters down for the day to mourn the demise of six people from the area.
The relatives and villagers gave a touching adieu to them. A large number of people from adjoin villages attended the cremations. Besides, them the civil and police officers including SDM Bani, SDPO, Basholi, SHO Bani attended the cremation.
Meanwhile the MLA Bani, Jeevan Lal today met the Chief Secretary, B B Viyas and demanded that the these six families be paid the ex-gratia relief as they have no source of income to feed themselves.
He also made an appeal to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to sanction some money for these families out of CM’s Relief Fund at an earliest. Jeevan Lal said that CS has assured him that the Government will do the needful in this regard.
Former Minister, Prem Sagar Aziz and ex Deputy Speaker and senior NC leader, Ghulam Hyder Malik while expressing shock over the loss of six lives of Bani area in the tragic accident have also demanded that the ex-gratia relief be sanctioned in favour of bereaved families.
