SRINAGAR, Apr 11: Police today claimed to have arrested six persons involved in selling Codeine Phosphate syrup bottles among the youth and recovered large cache of Codeine Phosphate bottles from them.
A police spokesman said a police party searched an auto bearing registration number JK05D-6308 driven by Fayaz Ahmad Bhat of Bomie at Highway near Zindri.
“150 bottles of Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered and two persons Khursheed Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Syed of Barzulla Panzgam, Bandipora and Altaf Ahmad Sofi son of Abdul Rehman of Tulibal Sopore travelling in the auto were arrested,” the spokesman said, adding an FIR No. 18/2014 under Section 8/22 NDPS has been registered and investigation is ongoing.
He said four more persons Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Bashir Ahmad, Ishfaq Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad of Silo, Lateef Ahmad Mir son of Hamza Mir of Brath Klan and Azad Ahmad Mir son of Manzoor Ahmad of Hib Dangerpora in Sopore were arrested.
“250 bottles of Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered from their possession” he said.
