Six drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw, heroin, cannabis

JAMMU, Jan 1: Batote, Chanderkote and Kishtwar Police arrested six drug peddlers and recovered poppy straw, heroin and cannabis from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information a team from Police Station Batote laid a naka and intercepted two motorcycles bearing registration numbers PB11BW-4533 and PB39H-9587.
During checking, police team recovered 15.300 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of two persons and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Mani Singh, son of Jaswant Singh of Shambho Kalan, Tehsil Rajpura, District Patiala, Punjab and Jarnail Singh, son of Kashmir Singh of Suhro, Tehsil Rajpura, District Patliala, Punjab.
Cases under FIR Number 1/2022 and 2/2022 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act have been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Chanderkote laid a naka and intercepted a Maruti Swift car bearing registration number JK02BN-1299.
During checking, police team recovered 22 grams heroin from the possession of three persons travelling in the car and arrested the.
The arrested persons were identified as Sharik Ahmed, son of Mohammad Aslam of District Kishtwar,
Jahangeer Ahmed Zarger, son of Shabir Ahmed Zarger of Zargar Mohalla District Kishtwar and Sohil Khan, son of Mohammad Aslam Khan of Plaser Mohalla Bathindi District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 1/2022 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation set into motion.
The arrests and recoveries were made by SHO Batote Inspector Ajeet Singh and SHO Chanderkote Inspector Mohammad Afzal Wani under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Pardeep Singh Sen and SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Kishtwar led by SHO Inspector Abid Hussain under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kishtwar Satish Kumar laid a naka near bus stand Kishtwar and arrested a drug peddler along with 30 grams cannabis.
The accused has been identified as Aqib Hussain, son of Abdul Aziz Ganie of Gurain District Kishtwar.
A FIR Number 1/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and Investigation taken up.
