Six fire incidents reported on Diwali night

JAMMU, Nov 2: As many as six fire incidents due to fire crackers were reported across the city on Diwali night.
A fire broke out at around 7:45 pm in Narwal vegetable market in a heap of vegetable crates. As per the reports, the fire started from some buses and suddenly spread to the nearby heap of crates. Four fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames and it took around 45 minutes to control the fire. Around 20 crates gutted in the fire.
Another fire incident was reported in Phase –I of Mandlik Nagar, Paloura, where a heap of scrap and shuttering material kept in a 5 kanal plot gutted in the fire. Three shanties were also burnt completely in the fire. The fire which was reported around 10:30 pm could be controlled by the men and machinery of Fire & Emergency Services Department by 1:30 pm
A fire also broke out in a 2 kanal plot behind Anand Electricals in Sainik Colony where optical fiber cables and other material and equipment of M/s Star Construction Company damaged.
Another fire incident took place at residence of Amarnath Bhargav at 15AC Gandhi Nagar in which the material kept outside the 3-storey house caught fire and burnt completely. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
The fire incident was also reported in a saw mill on Exchange Road, Jammu where logs of wood caught fire, causing about Rs 8 lakh loss to the owner. A fire also broke out in a 2-storey house in Sector-2, Dogra Nagar (Jammu), where household things around worth Rs 2 lakh gutted in the fire.
However, it is a matter of satisfaction that no loss of life or injury was reported in any of the fire incidents.
